The United States currently has about $9 billion in military assistance available to Ukraine. It is provided through the Ukraine Security Assistance Initiative (USAI) and defense packages under presidential authority. This amount was announced by Pentagon spokesman General Patrick Ryder, according to an Ukrinform correspondent.
“The balance is $2.21 billion under the USAI program and another $6.8 billion through presidential authority,” the Defense Ministry official said.
When asked whether the Pentagon could implement complete assistance to Ukraine before the current government’s term ends, the general said that the department is acting on the White House’s instructions. The task is to speed up the transfer of aid to Ukraine as much as possible, using all available tools.
Ryder emphasized that the U.S. Department of Defense continues to act urgently in this matter.
“We have not lost focus on the urgency of assisting Ukraine,” he added.
He also reiterated that the United States will continue to provide military support and stay in touch with the Ukrainian side, allies, and partners to ensure that Ukraine has the necessary resources to protect its freedom and sovereignty.
In April, the U.S. Congress approved a large-scale package of assistance to Ukraine and measures in response to Russian aggression, the total amount of which exceeds $61 billion.
