On the third Monday of February, the month when two of the country’s greatest leaders, George Washington and Abraham Lincoln, were born, the United States celebrates Presidents’ Day. On this occasion, a survey is conducted among 154 historians and social science experts to determine the best leader of the country. This year, former President Donald Trump was the worst.
In the 2024 Presidential Greatness Project survey, the current President of the United States, Joe Biden, was ranked 14th, while his predecessor, Donald Trump, was ranked 45th, behind his colleagues Andrew Johnson and James Buchanan. Donald Trump’s overall rating of 10.92 is probably the worst, while Biden’s rating of 62.66 puts him on par with John Adams. Barack Obama was ranked 6th, and Ronald Reagan was ranked 18th.
Experts named Abraham Lincoln the best US president in the country’s history. The top five included Franklin Delano Roosevelt, George Washington, Theodore Roosevelt, and Thomas Jefferson.
On a scale of “overall greatness” from 0 to 100, a rating of 50 indicates that the President was average, and zero means that the President is a failure. Only three best presidents – Abraham Lincoln, Franklin D. Roosevelt, and George Washington – scored over 90 points.
