Russian leader Vladimir Putin continues to “win every day” until the U.S. House of Representatives passes a new aid package for Ukraine. This was stated by US President Joe Biden’s National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan.
Sullivan pointed out that the lack of necessary resources for the Ukrainian authorities creates an undeniable advantage for Putin, emphasizing the need for a prompt decision. According to him, a strong majority of the House of Representatives is ready to support the aid package but is still waiting for the relevant bill.
Republican Speaker Mike Johnson is under pressure from his party, where the pro-Trump far-right is blocking a vote on the aid package. This internal tension raises serious doubts about the speed with which the necessary decisions in favor of Ukraine can be made.
The Senate has already supported the aid package, offering significant financial resources for Ukraine and other allies such as Israel. However, for this package to become effective, it must pass the House of Representatives.
US President Joe Biden is set to meet with congressional leaders on Tuesday. This could be a crucial moment for the government to convince Speaker Johnson of the importance of a decision in favor of Ukraine.
